The University City area contains the UNCC Botanical Gardens and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus, surrounded by student-friendly bars and eclectic dining. Big-name acts perform at the outdoor PNC Music Pavilion amphitheater. Heading south from the university area, Reedy Creek Park and Nature Preserve offers a lake and walking trails.
